Jag is usually pronounced as 'yah', without the g, in normal speech. The g only appears when you stress the word.

Likewise, ja is usually pronounced as 'ah', without the j. Again, it appears when you emphasize the word.

I have to listen to this to make sure, but I can't remember ever hearing ja as a. For me jag and ja are always pronounced the same (except if emphasized of course).

It's an extremely common pronunciation. Usually with a small 'break', making it sound like A-a. The spelling Aa is common in text speak.

Ah, of course. But I've always thought of ja and aa as two separate things. Both expressing agreement but to different degrees. That's why I didn't get what you wrote earlier.

No, neither one are. Listen to them on Forvo.

Jag is ja with a g at the end. So like yahg and yah.

Not exactly. Jag is often pronounced as ja, leaving the final g silent. But when jag is emphasized, the g should be pronounced clearly.

Okay, thanks.

On the listener, both are yo. :c

No they're both yah on the listener. The Swedish speaker hopefully isn't that bad... I'm level 2 Swedish but the Dutch speaker was terrible. It was a cross between German and British speaking Dutch. It is very weird, and I actually had to retrain my ear and fix my pronunciation issues after I realized how inaccurate it was. D:
