Movie recommendation - Kirikou

Hi,

just thought I'd say that I watched two films last night:

Kirikou et la Sorcière and Kirikou et les Hommes et les Femmes.

These were both excellent for learners as the French is quiet simple and spoken very clearly and not too fast. I've never understood so much of a film so easily.

Kirikou et la Sorcière can be found on youtube with English subtitles. Also you can find a transcript online - just google "Kirikou et la Sorcière transcript".

The second film I watched on Amazon Prime (free one month trial).

I know this sounds silly, but...I'm going to recommend "Un Printemps a Paris", which I divided into eleven installments on my blog.

The movie is so slow, that you have a lot of time to figure out what each character said, and if you missed it, don't worry, I have it typed out. The dialogue sounds authentic and what a normal person would say. Sure, the story is ridiculous, especially when they kidnap a beautiful woman who decides she wishes to take a nude swim, in front of one of her captors, to break the monotony of being abducted. Ten minutes later she takes a bubble bath after being released by her captors, in front of the police who are questioning her. Ridiculous, yes? But in Paris, in the Sping? It could happen....

I don't know that movie but will try and look it out! Stirling work documenting all the dialogue - I've had a read of it and it seems like a manageable level (although I needed to look up the odd word). Thanks! :-)

I will check it out! I've only watched a few movies/cartoons. My favorite movie thus far is Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain. I've also started watching South Park in French, moreso for my love of SP than French. Starting with media I'm already familiar with in English might be helpful.

Oh yes, Amelie is a great film. You might also want to check out Delicatessen, La cité des enfants perdus and MicMacs - if you've not already.

South Park in french? That's a thought! :-)

Watched it when I was younger at school and was fascinated by it. I'll definitely have to rewatch it now that you mentioned, haha. Didn't know there was another Kirikou movie though, thank you for the suggestion.

Yes, it's done in the same style but it's all CGI rather than traditional hand drawn animation. Looks great! There's also "Kirikou et les betes sauvages" but I've not seen that one yet...

Kirikou et la Sorcière is a great movie I loved it. I watched it as a child. The other one I have never seen so I will watch it soon. I'm sure I'll love it though
