New here, checking in
Hi all, I just started a few weeks ago. I'm trying to learn Spanish, mostly so that I can have at least basic, transactional conversations with the customers that come into our store who only speak Spanish. I took Spanish in High School (long ago), but didn't learn much - we had a horrid teacher and only got halfway through the Spanish 1 book in two years :P That experience had made me feel like I couldn't learn a different language. Duolingo is making me feel so much more confident! I love the format and how they focus on all aspects of a language (reading, writing, listening, speaking) at the same time. I'm excited to learn more and hopefully become involved in the community here. ~ Emily
Hello, and Welcome! - Just wanted to let you know, that if you ever need help understanding something in Spanish, you can ask me, because I have finished the course, and I can say I know it pretty well, or if you have trouble with anything, the duolingo staff team, and moderators are always there for you if you need help. -SM
Hi, I am also trying to learn Spanish and practicing my English. I think you are lucky because you can hear and practice Sanish every day in real life. I'm sure it helps and it is a great motivation. Good luck!
Thanks! I'm not really practicing in real life yet (customers don't exactly talk about who is eating whose apple :P ) but I hope to soon! Good luck to you, too :)
Welcome to Duolingo! What's your favorite part so far?
Buenos suertes con tus estudias. :)
thanks! I really like having the daily XP goals - it makes it seem more like a game than work, and give me a sense of accomplishment. It also makes me feel okay about stopping for the day - rather than feeling like I should just keep going, I can feel all right because I made my goal.
