BUG - Learning French from German Tree

Dear Duo,

You're probably already aware of this, but there is a bug in the FR-DE tree. I'm assuming this is a bug, and not some sort of A/B test... From day 1, I have been able to access skills beyond where I've reached in the tree. That is to say, when I was on the 5th skill, I could access the 10th skill if I wanted to. As I went further into the tree, the distance between where I was and where I could go grew. I've completed about half (maybe less than half) the tree, but it is almost 100% open to me, allowing me to hop around and go where I want.

A picture is worth 1000 words, so here are two screenshots. 1 around the middle of the tree, and one at the end of the tree:

That's very strange, I'am also doing the German to French tree and nothing like that has ever happened to me. So you can just learn whatever skill you want in the order you want? That actually doesn't sound too bad!

Perhaps it is an A/B test then.

That happened to me sometimes on some of my reverse trees (but not consistently on all of them, at least as far as I can remember). Maybe the same set of words or sentences are used in both the direct and reverse trees, so the corresponding skills are considered "open" ?

I ran into the same issue in my Spanish for French tree. It happened right around the time they started counting XP separately for each base language. I've moved further along by accessing the lessons further down the tree, so I still have some lessons in the middle of the tree that I haven't done.
