Ack och ve?

Hej!

I don't know if it's right to ask this here, but there's a Swedish phrase "ack och ve". Does anyone know what it means? And maybe could explain it to me?

Tack!

Well, as far as I know, "ack och ve" could roughly translate as "oy vey" or "woe is me". It sounds a bit archaic imo though.

This lacks a real direct translation. It is a rather old-fashioned expression (not commonly used now), something to the effect of "good grief" or "oh my god", used when something bad happens.

Never a good source, but Google translate translates it as "Alas".
