Lessons (definite article usage)
I've taken Spanish and am fluent in French and in general, the definite article relates to a plural in English: i.e., I like apples.
When I do this, the lessons tell me I am wrong and dock me points for not saying "I like the apple" for example. Both ways are write, but my answer is more like what a native speaker would say, whereas it's wanting me to sound like a direct translation.
Is there any way to get around this?
The translations in the skill tests are very literal, which of course is often incorrect. My advice is click on the link that says 'still think you are right' and send them your version, eventually the most appropriate translation will be used
