Have they stopped Streak Freezes?

On Christmas Day I tried to buy a streak freeze--or, rather, I thought I'd bought one, but received an email later in the day encouraging me to continue my streak. I did continue, and wrote Support a note at the same time. Ever since, my streak-freeze button has been grayed out as "Enabled." (I think that's their term; I don't want to navigate away to check and lose what I've typed here.) I wrote Support to ask, but have heard no answer to either question.

I can still buy it. I think that what happened was that you bought one, and you got an email that automatically comes every day to remind you to practice your French. (If you want to turn it off, then you can go to Settings > Notifications > Daily Reminders.) The grayed out button means that the Streak Freeze is there, and will be activated whenever you next miss a day - you don't have to manually set it up, just buy it and it'll do the work. I hope this helps. :)

And, I'll just add that I just bought one, but while my box did become gray, it also said "Equipped," rather than "Enabled." Strange . . . but maybe it meant the same thing.

Not strange, ernie. I didn't want to check the exact wording, lest I lose what I had entered. Mine also says "Equipped." It seems like an odd word, but these are also the people who wrote "He arrived to America." :) Thanks for responding.

And I just learned that I can't post two replies at the same time--have to do them all in one box.

If you click on an upvote or downvote arrow, your reply box and all of the text in it goes away.

Thanks, truemi. I hadn't considered the possibility that I had effectively paid for the freeze in advance. I guess I'll know the next time I have to miss a day. I don't mind the reminders, it's just that they don't send any when I do my work early, and I assumed that buying the streak freeze would have the same effect.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think that you have to buy a streak freeze on a day prior to the day you intend (or just happen) to skip your daily Duo workout. So if you bought it on December 25, you would still need to complete your December 25th goal, but it would be effective December 26th and from then on until used. That's the way double-or-nothing wagers work too.

I don't think so . . . I remember buying one for the day, and being unable, for some reason, to get even one XP for the day. I"m not positive, though.

I think you are confused by the name "Streak Freeze", because it doesn't actually "freeze" your streak. It's rather a failsafe. When you buy it, you are allowed to miss 1 day of practice. But it doesn't matter when you miss this practice.

Many of us have the "Streak Freeze" equipped without any plans of using it. It's just there in case we don't make it one day.

I don't think they have stopped Streak Freezes, but I'm not sure.

They didn't stop selling streek freezes and the already bought freezes are still functioning. Usagiboy7 used a streak freeze a couple of weeks ago (If I remember correctly) and it was working normally.
