What does "tahita" mean in spanish ?
i have been struggling to find the meaning for this word, a colombian friend uses it..would appreciate if someone can help. cheers
It's taita and It means dad, it's mostly used in the centre of the country (Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Boyacá). Here's the RAE's definition; it comes from latin, I had always thought it came from an indigenous language.
PD: it is also used for addressing indigenous elders or shamans (google taita images)
Could you be spelling it wrong? Maybe "taita"? http://www.wordreference.com/es/en/translation.asp?spen=taita
