Schrijven in een nieuw taal is moeilijk.
Nederlands is een leuk taal, maar schrijven in het is moeilijk. Ik wil leren Nederlands, en mij vriend doet te. Ik wil ga naar Nederland, het is een mooi land, en ik hou van het. :)
Sorry for any grammatical errors, like I said it's hard. ;)
Also hard to talk about things my world that apply to what I've learned so far...
- leuke taal* (de taal)
- Ik wil Neverlands leren (modals always send verb to end)
- en mijn vriend wil ook Nederlands leren (te mean too, as in too cold, too hot, but not 'as well')
- Ik wil naar Nederland
- Ik hou ervan (you might be right, but I think this sounds better and is easier)
However, you did a VERY good job. Most people can't even do that. And it was 100% understandable to me. I'm not a native speaker but I learned German well, and I find Dutch 10x easier than German. It's really simplified German!
It will come more easily to you if you practice. I kik with two Dutch friends every day basically, and I did that since week 1 of learning Dutch. I could understand a lot just by knowing German because they're so close, and I just had to look up or ask for words. But at this point I'm sure you'd be fine communicating with an authentic Dutch person on a daily basis. Try to find someone! :D
Just write A LOT, then fix your mistakes and your writing will improve. If you like to write stories, poems, etc, post some in the Dutch forum and people will gladly correct it for you.
And I recommend joining a Dutch Minecraft server! You will pick up the language very fast! My Dutch friend played an English chat room game for two years, before taking any English classes, and by the time she quit she was more fluent than I was in English! En ik ben een moedertaalspreker! Om een taal te leren moet men altijd oefenen!
There is a server I like that you can check out: play.mcdutchcraft.nl:25565
I play on there sometimes when I wanna practice Dutch. The survival is pretty fun and the community is small and friendly. Usually no more than 10 people on, lots of regular players, 100% Dutch talking! Just tell them you're learning. :D
Thanks! I see what I did with the te and ook. Since the word is the same in English, I find it hard to distinguish them. Thanks for helping me out :)
You're welcome! :D
Many of your errors involved word order. I'd recommend reading and listening a lot. That's the only way to get word order down. I, somehow, can write or speak a 5-10 clause sentence in German on occasion with verbs and interrupting clauses all over... It's just because I'm used to hearing words in a certain order, and I kinda know where they go.
With Dutch you are much luckier because the word order is more like English and there aren't a bunch of weird grammar rules. So reading and listening should cause your mistakes to quickly fade if you do it a lot! Music helps too. ;)
If it helps to remember, "ook" is cognate with "also" in English, "auch" in German and "också" in Swedish (languages I see you're also learning!). One cannot say "also late" in place of "too late," so even if English uses the same word "too," it refers to two separate ideas.
I was born and raised with the Dutch language. I had always considered it to be a dead end. Having spoken English for the past 12 years, I consider myself better at English than at Dutch. But, this resurgence of the Dutch language amongst foreigners through Duolingo puts a smile on my face! It actually makes me proud that people find the language of our tiny country interesting enough to learn.
Nice try! You still made a couple of mistakes though!
Nederlands is een leuke taal, maar ik vind dat schrijven te moelijk is. Ik leer Nederlands, en mijn vriend doet mee. Ik wil naar Nederland gaan, ik vind dat het een mooie land is, en ik houd ervan.
I have edited it to how I would write write it, it might be a little bit different! It took me a while to learn dutch (2 years) without Duolingo or a tutor. I mainly just tried to talk to people and used google translate alot. When I found duolingo I was already fluent.
Like Doge said join a Dutch minecraft server, you can even set the language to dutch!
Thanks. Someday I'd like to see he Netherlands, especially if there is a trip for my school, because I'll be able to communicate with the locals and show off my Dutch skills :)
