Swedish POP Music Playlist!
I made this playlist. If you have any song/artist suggestions, please leave them below!
I like to listen to music I really like in a language before I practice, because it motivates me a lot (because I want to be able to understand it)... Worked well with Dutch, and is working with Swedish!
Kent has been my favorite to listen to. The verses are more complex but I usually get the choruses after a few tries. There is also a website that gives good translations. And they have made english version of two albums BUT, be warned they changed the lyrics so they would flow in english better. When I was first starting this messed with me quite a bit because I was less confident in my swedish and thought "Wow! I was totally off in my translation!" But really, they just changed the lyrics (some slightly and some... yeah, a lot). A slightly mellower version of them is a band called Paus (which was just a one time collaboration) but I LOVE that album. Good stuff. Kent has something like 15 albums so plenty to choose from for long car trips (my best friend is 3 hours away one way and I visit usually once a month). Gives me time to listen to music I like and see if I've gotten any better at picking up words since my last listen.
I'm playing this and my neice is here. And she's like: "What are you watching O.O?" Hahahaha :PPP
Just don't play vill du ligga med mig då haha... It's sad that that's the first full, complex sentence I learned in Swedish... But by some people's standards it'd be pretty useful so I guess it's not that bad. Gotta learn how to say everything! :D
Maybe a bit too fast to hear everything, but this song is great and has a wonderful message. :) Kapten Röd - Ju mer dom spottar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbPNwzFNQ7E
I would also like to suggest two songs by Loke Nyberg, Eldsjäl: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnwF6j5jSsQ and Aldrig mera rädd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqcZ9SXCjyw These two should probably be easier to listen in on while still learning swedish, since he doesn't have a strong accent and sings pretty clearly.
And I really want to +1 on Haskus suggestion regarding Den Svenska Björnstammen - Vart jag mig i världen vänder, such a beautiful song! Great when travelling the swedish countryside. :D
