Beginner Spanish Books?

Hi! I'm a Spanish learner on and offline. I would like to expand my knowledge even more, and I've heard that reading is the best way to do so. I need some ideas of beginners books that will help me understand and practice my Spanish. I would like for the book to be a fun fictional book. Please give me some titles, and if you can, the author.
Thank you!

This is a good starter, the stories a short, fun and easy to digest, there are also some q&a exercises for each story at the end of the book.

First Spanish Reader A beginner's dual-language book

edited by Angel Flores

Perfect for beginning students of Spanish, this affordable anthology is filled with 41 delightful stories and proverbs based on works of Don Juan Manuel, Luis Taboada, Ricardo Palma, and other noted writers. Complete and faithful English translations are featured on the facing pages of the Spanish text. Exercises are also included.

Oops! Nearly forgot 'Victor's Adventures in Spain' also from Amazon'. On one side of the page it is Spanish and the other it is in English so you can glance over if you are having difficulty. It also comes with audio clips which you download.

Book i'd recommend: "Los huevos verdes con jamón" por Dr.Seuss. (Green eggs and Ham). Fun to read, easy enough to digest, and who dosen't like Dr.Seuss?

A lot of people like to read children's books when they start.

I don't know where you are in your Spanish journey, but if you're at the point where you want to read regular books, you might want to try reading translations of the books that you like reading in English. I'm finishing up the Divergente (Divergent) trilogy. The next books on my list are the Los Juegos del Hambre (Hunger Games) trilogy.

It's been working out well for me. What I like about it is if I can't understand everything in the book, I don't really get lost. As long as I can understand enough words to know the general idea of what's going on, I can think to myself "oh yeah, that's the part where such and such happens."

I have the books in both languages, so if I have questions about the details of the book in Spanish, I can always look to see what it says in English. Sometimes things don't (can't) translate literally.

I got given a selection of spanish books from my parents this christmas, around 5 Roald Dahls, which I find fairly easy to read(and they have some pictures when you get stuck), el leon, la bruja y el armario (the lion, the witch and the wardrobe). This I found fairly easy to understand, but that could be from knowing the story already. I did also get a Terry Pratchett book... but this one is a real struggle for me currently! But by far the best are the Roald Dahl as they're aged 10+, they're good fun and not too long!

Am I mistaken, or is there only one book currently available in Spanish?

Hi Lindsey I really enjoyed Lola Lago. It is a very simple mystery and although I uploaded to my Kindle I think you can get the paperbook from Amazon. There are a few in the series but this one is for beginners. I hope you find this useful!
