Dutch Dictionary Recommendations?
I'm going to get a Dutch Dictionary but I can't choose which one! I would like a portable/mini dictionary so I can carry it around everywhere. Please Help!
Hm, I always use van Dale, but that's a big one.. xD (Or you can use their site.) But they have a pocketsized dictionary as well.
Ah! I see that van Dale even has a dictionary for people who learn Dutch as a second language. xD (ISBN13: 9789460770623)
About hyves, it's gone. About a year ago, since everyone is on facebook. As far as I know, we don't really have a social media thing for Dutch people only. Not a lot people use twitter (at least, none of the people I know use it), so I'd stick with facebook.
I've been using the van Dale, too, and find it very useful. Very accurate and to the point.
Try to look for Dutch language related groups on Facebook.
Dutch as a 2nd language: 'Nederlands als tweede taal' For anything on Dutch: 'Genootschap Onze Taal' or 'Taalvoutjes' For Dutch music: luisterliedjes
Also I would like a recommendation for social media for Dutch friends! I heard about Hyves but something happened to it :( Thanks!
I bought the van dale dictionary with images and for French/Dutch/English/German/Spanish. It was around €20, here's a link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dale-Large-Picture-Dictionary-Dutch-English-French-German-Spanish/dp/9460770673/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422924782&sr=8-1&keywords=van+dale+dictionary+english+french+dutch
Just search for "Van dale groot beeldwoordenboek". For me it was nice to use as i could find some words i knew in another language that I didn't know how to translate. It's organised well with de/het articles and masculine/feminine/neuter for other languages.
For me, the pictures were nice to improve my vocabulary and was lighter reading material than text heavy dictionaries. But it's not portable/mini.
