What is the difference between stille, placere and sætte?
Someone said that "stille" is to put something down vertically and one of the others – I can't remember which – is to put something down horizontally. It's like the difference between leaning a broom against a wall and putting it flat on the floor.
They mean the same in a lot of cases. However, there are some exceptions, e.g:
"Jeg stiller/placerer mig her" = "I am going to stand over here"
"Jeg sætter mig her" = "I'm going to sit down here"
possibly like put, place and set down?
why not kan I stille vinen der?
"Kan I stille vinen der" should be accepted as well.
There are too many words for "to put"!
