Can't Access Certain User Profiles

I'm not sure if it's because the user name has periods, or because it ends with a period, but I was trying to access the user profile here: https://www.duolingo.com/Christopher.C.H. and it keeps giving me an error. Maybe someone from the dev team could have a look.

It's probable this user doesn't exist anymore/has deactivated his account.

That is not the case. The user is active and doing exercises every day.

Although even if it was the case, I think there should be an error message saying that the account is no longer active, not a 404 error.

The 404 signifies a broken link. Probably the user has a changed username?

Edit: The reason for the error is the period at the end of the H is not considered as part of the link. Try pasting it into a browser with the period at the end. It should work.

The user Christopher.C.H. does not exist, nor does the user Christopher.C.H

Periods in usernames should work - can I ask where you got the username from? Thanks!

Yes, that username is ChristopherC.H., not Christopher.C.H or Christopher.C.H. So the link you're looking for is "https://www.duolingo.com/ChristopherC.H."

You are right. The confusion arises since the user appears as Christopher.C.H. in the following list of the OP. It's probably a change in username but directly clicking on the user's profile in the following list results in a 404 error due to the broken link (as link is created with old/incorrect name).

I am not having that issue. If I go to the OP's profile and view their following list, then click on ChristopherC.H., it takes me to the correct profile. In the list it is also listed as ChristopherC.H. - is it listed differently for you? Thanks!

The problem appears to have been solved. I'm guessing it was indeed a username change, but there is some kind of caching system in place that displayed the old user name (and link) in the "Leaderboard" on the right. It now displays the correct user name and link. Thanks for checking!

It was, until the page refreshed by itself. After that the new username reflected.
