i love swedish for having some similar sound-wise words! en kastrull, now it's gardiner - which translates to "гардины"

Tack!

Is this word "gardiner" used for draperies as well as curtains?

Blinds should be excepted no?

But that's "persienner" in Swedish (en persienn - flera persienner).

"persiane" in Italian!

Persienne in French :)

Persiana in Spanish, just had to do it

ok, so it has to be rullgardiner then to be blinds maybe?

Probably. My diccionary says
rullgardin - roller blind
persienn - blind

Curtains or drapes are fabric; blinds or shades are harder material, usually metal, wood or vinyl.

Why is "the window HAS brown curtains" wrong?

That's the suggested answer. (the main answer is the one you can see on top of this page).
If you didn't get that accepted, it was probably because of a very annoying bug that has been appearing now and then lately :(

Curtains would be a ridiculous hiding place for an intruder, so the window must have draperies, sometimes called "drapes."
