No gender on flash cards

Could the appropriate articles be added to the flash cards? Half the battle is learning masculine/feminine/neuter for nouns, and it would be a great help.

This has been requested ever since the flash cards came in. Unfortunately it hasn't happened yet.

Good to know. It's such a common issue in so many languages I was sure I wouldn't be the first. Maybe one more voice will help.

If you click on a word, you can get a lot more information including

  • translation
  • audio
  • part of speech
  • gender
  • examples
  • translation examples

Cool; that helps! I'm pretty new here and am learning new stuff about the site daily.

If you are new, the Duolingo wiki is a good place to dig around for more information on the how-tos and what-ifs of the site. http://duolingo.wikia.com/wiki/Duolingo_Wiki

Is this on the flashcards themselves because I can't seem to bring up anything there other than the word and the answer?

The Words tab shows the list of words learnt during the various lessons. Clicking on any of the words brings up a display screen on the right side of the screen with the audio, translation, part of speech and current strength. Towards the bottom of this window you can see a More details. Clicking this brings up a pop-up screen with additional details.

This is not part of the Review flashcards feature.

Thank you but I knew about the Words information. The trouble is Flashcards doesn't give the article and this is quite vital information particularly when a word can have an entirely meaning when it has a different article.

the Words tab doesn't appear in all languages eitehr

I agree. I make my own Anki flashcards for anything I feel weak on, and I have articles on those. It helps a lot, but is of course, quite time consuming.

I subscribe to this. As an example, genders in German language can only be learned together with the noun. So adding them in the flash cards will help a lot.

Any word from the developers when/if articles will be added to the flash cards? Thanks!

https://forum.duolingo.com/comment/31807883 [Gender:Noun] without knowing the proper gender for the noun, learning case form is impossible.
