"This conflict will never come to an end."
Translation:Den här konflikten kommer aldrig att ta slut.

If you use "ska" here, it would be like you decide that it will never end. You can read about "ska" and "kommer att" here.

I'll try. ta is the infinitive. att ta = to take, ett slut = an end => "to take end" => to come to an end.

I think that you use att sluta when you quit something you are doing. You use att ta slut when something that is happening comes to an end. Jag slutar läsa. Konflikten tar slut.
Waiting for a native speaker to confirm.

the same here, alternatively can anyone explain why this is wrong: Den här konflikten kommer aldrig att sluta. If it is wrong here could anybody explain what this sentence means if it means anything.
Firstly, denna konflikt and den här konflikten are both correct and both accepted.
I'm also no native speaker but this is what comes to mind:
- att sluta seems to me like it should be followed by a verb phrase - Vi slutar dricka öl. / Han slutade äta socker.
- att avsluta is followed by a noun phrase - Hur avslutar jag mitt konto? / Vi avslutade helgen med en rolig middag.
- att ta slut can be used to express that something comes to an end
Having said all this, I just found this on Google: "Hur slutade kriget på östfronten?" - which, I guess, could also be "Hur tog kriget på östfronten slut?"
Sorry I can't be of more help.
