A more polite interpretation of io voglio un libro is "I would like a book"

"I would like a book" would be "(Io) vorrei un libro" (conditional tense)

Thankyou. However, in the square of meanings of voglio "I would like AND I want" are included. Have found there are other occasions also where I use one of duolingo's own English translations and I get "oops you are wrong" so this time I decided to mention my concern.

Oh it is still there in dictionary hints. If you see it somewhere again just report it.

I put "I would like a book" and it was marked wrong :(

Unfortunately that is a mistake in dictionary hints that should be corrected. "Vorrei un libro = I would like a book"
