Completed the German Tree
Finally, after three months, I have finished. I was going to wait for my birthday on Tuesday to do the last lesson, but I got impatient. I practiced for about an hour every day, 100-200 xp. I still feel like I don't quite know everything german has to offer, but I certainly know more than when I began. Thank you duolingo.
I feel.... not that fluent. I definitely feel much more confident reading than anything else, but that might just be me. I'd say I'm like a third maybe fourth grade level reading wise, but speaking and listening wise I'm in like kindergarten. Writing is somewhere in between, maybe first grade. I'm not quite sure though.
Is it just me that whenever I am more profound on new languages, the less profound I am in my old (English + native) languages? It is sometimes becoming so chaotic whenever I try to explain some words in more-than-two different languages in the same time. However, I can't even decide whether it is the right or bad thing. Yeah (well, I guess) I'm not a linguistic person.
Is English your second language? If so, you are pretty good from reading that. God knows I'm not half that good in Spanish or German. If you're worried you're losing it, you can always practice two languages at the same time, if you have time. Anyways, yeah I have that problem too. I'm taking Spanish in school, and sometimes I accidentally almost say the German word for something.
Yes, it is. Dankeschön for saying that :) But I think you can't compare my English and your Spanish (as our 2nd language skill) that way, we knew that almost every non-English-speaker country has been exposed by the English words; ads, poster, phone settings, etc. So, they make me learn faster and easier than you learning for Spanish. All stuffs around us really does make the difference.
Wow! That's amazing. A great success story. You rock, that's so fast. Keep up the amazing learning. I am humbled.
To have completed the tree in such a short time is very impressive. Congratulations,
Congrats! I've got a long ways to go.
Wow, you are so good... I do 40 xp per day max. But I have similar problem as acorpuscle, English is my second language, which means I have to translate twice :-) However it's perfect practise of EN, too . I found out I forgot spelling of many words etc. And often I say things like: Ich habe einen dog. :-D
