You did better than X% of people at this lesson
Just noticed this today - is it new? What is it for?
I saw it once, and it said I did "better than 62% on this lesson". ( I think it was referring to the set of lessons, but not sure.) I had done a sloppy job, missing some easy things (putting la instead of una, she instead of they, just because I was in a hurry and not paying attention). The next lesson, I was very careful. I did the entire set of lessons without an error. At the end of each set, I was reminded that I got 100% correct, but at the end NO message telling me I did better than 99%! For me, the goal was proving I was much better than 62% of others. I know I don't really need that, but it made it more fun to me, to take the time to be accurate. I wish they would continue that. The only problem I see is that I don't want to take chances as often. When I'm not worried about my score, I tend to try translations that sound good to me even when they don't fit with the drop-down selections
What you scored isn't the same as how many other people did better or worse than you. It could be that 30% of people get a perfect score, so getting a perfect score means that you only scored better than 70% of people and equal to 30%. It's extremely unlikely you'll get a report saying that you scored better than 99% of users.
That said, I didn't like being told how other users were doing relative to me when I made an error. It's irrelevant and unhelpful.
THE LINGOT GODS HAVE SPOKEN. IT IS RAINING LINGOTS! HALLELUJAH! ITS RAINING LINGOTS! OHH YEAHHH!
I just redid the lesson a couple of times. It is the lesson on sizes. A perfect score just says well done, but I made 1 mistake on another attempt and at the end it said "Completed in 20 challenges. Best possible: 17 You did better than 55% of people at this lesson"
As in the case with A-B format testing, group 'A' is control and nothing changes for them, but group 'B' gets to test out the new feature. I just did the lesson and nothing was different for me. So I'm group A and you are in group B. Try it out for other lessons and see if it's been implemented for all of them.
7 mistakes on one of the time lessons. I am not good at time words yet, and the % may have been too small to display to me. I will try it again and see if I can do better.
2 mistakes that attempt and I did better than 38% of people. Looks like it only shows you this if you make at least 1 mistake but less than whatever will place you in the bottom 1/3rd or so.
I did very badly with one lesson and was told "You did better than 8% of people at this lesson." I wish there were a way to get rid of it.
