  5. Why Thirty Seconds?

Why Thirty Seconds?

I'm much more rushed in doing a thirty-second practice than I was in a forty-five second practice, and I'm finding that I don't do as well. Real conversation - or real reading, since I don't think that Duolingo gives me much of a conversational basis - allows much more leeway in time allowed. You folks started off with forty-five seconds. Why did you lessen the time allowed?

We were actually running an experiment with multiple start times, and found that 30 seconds did best on average.

Maybe it's an idea to make a setting of this, for us slow-wits who still want to compete with ourselves?
