Over use of some words

I don't understand why some words are used over and over and over and other words come up so infrequently. I must have had three or four dozen instances with the word zucchero in the example. Why is sugar so important? Why can't there be a algorithm that reinforces old words so all words are practiced equally?

Because "There is a fly in my turkey" doesn't come up often in Italian....

But "There is a fly in my soup" does.

And that's why we learn soup instead of turkey...
