Can you hear a difference between ist and isst?

Example: "Er ist in ihrem Haus," could be, "Er isst in ihrem Haus." right?

Could be both. ist = is / isst = eating. Er ist in ihrem Haus. He is in her house. Er isst in ihrem Haus. He is eating at her house.
