Am I the only one internally (sometimes externally) screaming over the pronunciation of sju, sjuksköterska and any word at all that contains that sound? Does anyone have any tips of how to make that sound?
Then you may be terrified to learn that this tongue twister exists: Sju skör sjörbjuggssjuka sjömän sköttes av sjuttiosju sköna, skönsjungande sjuksköterskor på det sjunkande sjukhusskeppet Stjärnan i Shanghai.
I also struggle with this sound. I am physically incapable of it! This sound will be my down fall :(
I watched some of this last night. It made me feel so frustrated. The english speaker did a pretty good job, though, from what I watched :)
I just don't understand how to make the noise from the back of the throat (?) rather than the front of the mouth/teeth (the shhhh sound)
SJUKSKÖTERSKESKOLARNA IS THE DOWNFALL OF ALL OF US.
I spend about 30 minutes getting the pronunciation of this word down PERFECTLY and I feel like it REALLY helped me with the rest of pronunciation! :D
I'm actually considering getting a degree in nursing and moving to Sweden just so I can say the word multiple times per day. Or getting really sick and travelling to Sweden to ask for a nurse in broken Swedish...
Sjuksköterskeskolarna is "The nursing schools" XD
Here is the pronunciation of sjuksköterskeskolan, which means the nursing school (singular)... http://www.forvo.com/word/sjuksk%C3%B6terskeskolan/#sv
