Hello! I have been studying using Dutch->English and English->Dutch since November (great courses!) and I had a question; I noticed that while Dutch->English has an immersion course, English->Dutch does not have one. Does anyone know when a EN->NL Immersion course will be available? Thank you, ijz3r

From all of what I heard it is unlikely that more courses will get immersion (at least for now). The Duolingo team seems to want to focus on and invest work time in other features.

That's unfortunate . One of the reasons I joined Duolingo was for the opportunity to translate real world sentences. In fact, I heard that was the main driving factor for creating Duolingo - to teach people languages so you can effectively crowd source the translation of the web. It was what set Duolingo apart from other language learning online programs - it offered the opportunity to use your new learned skills.

Yeah, I understand that and actually I would also like to be able to do immersion for the Dutch course. Looking at how Duolingo and in particular its business model has evolved, I think one can see that providing paid-for translations to customers has probably not fulfilled their expectations with regard to profits.

Therefore I guess they are no putting so much resources into the 'school functions' with the expectation that money can be made there (certificates, school/teacher functions and so on). At the end of the day the investors want to see a healthy profit on their investments.

I've read that the Immersion courses have stalled due to EU regulations regarding copyright. It's an awesome feature that I wish all the courses had, but it seems unlikely that it will happen, unfortunately.
