Lessons too short

Since last night in both Irish and French I have been able to finish a lesson on only a few questions, four or five; the strength jumps forward for each right answer as much as it should for two or three answers. I can't see it reported here, anyone else see the problem?

Yes, that is happening to me too since yesterday evening, with all my languages as far as I can tell. I wonder if it is an A/B test (and separate from the one where you only get 3XP for reviewing lessons with full word strength, but I also seem to have that too now).

Personally, I do not feel that 5 questions is enough for me to be comfortable with new material, even if I get none wrong. I find this new format confusing. I hope it is a bug that they'll resolve and not something here to stay.

It means you can get through a lesson without having to translate into the language you're learning, which is not kind of practice.

Very true! And I haven't gotten any listening/transcription exercises in the short lessons either. :(

Exactly. I am not learning anything new with this superficial way of getting 10XP for 4 easy questions.

The bug must have been fixed in mid-day on Feb 20th because it took about 20 questions to get 10XP for a strengthening lesson. That's more like it.

Yes, I just noticed that too. Much better! Luis just made a post about the change in scoring, and in one of the comments he says the number of questions is back to normal for "the majority of users," which makes me wonder if they're still testing a shorter version for some users.

Yes; it's fixed for me too, I'm off now to do verbal-nouns again, it's not possible to learn that in four question lessons.

I was having this problem across the board for a few days a while back then all but one improved. My Irish lessons are routinely only seven questions long which is just enough time to introduce the new words. I cannot get beyond the Irish to English heavy phase of the lessons and so cannot get any practice going from English to Irish and thus getting no practice with spelling. Is anyone else specifically having trouble with Duolingo Irish?
