Retaining knowledge

I'm not very far into my Spanish Tree, I'm only on "Present 2," but I want to make sure I keep retaining my knowledge. I feel like I easily forget it, so I try to write sentences using the words before moving on to the next lesson, and I'll redo a lesson if necessary (which is why I have a high level and I'm barely into my tree.... looks like I'll be one of those level 25ers...Ahem, anyways!)
I don't want to just forget what I'm learning, so do you guys have any tips on remembering this information?

Well if you do not want to forget the new words that you learn, you need to say that every moment that you can, example .. I learn to say Cat in spanish.. Every time you see a "cat" in your mind think how to say cat in spanish

Also, try to make sure it gets used off of DuoLingo in other ways. Like, I try to keep a journal and communicate with people on GoSpeaky.

I never thought about keeping a journal, thanks! I don't really think I'm on a level to speak with others, though.

Mmmhm, IME handwriting will help you retain more than typing, so if you start incorporating the language as much as possible into the journal it'll stimulate recall memory more. I'm trying not to journal in English at all anymore, though it can get frustrating lol.

One thing you can do is practice any skills that are giving you trouble. For example, after preforming a lesson/level go to https://www.duolingo.com/practice and press the " strengthen skills" button and go over the skills that may need improvment. it helps :) - Daylightloves
