I EARNED MY SPANISH GOLDEN OWL! OLE!
This is quite an achievement for me as I have deliberately made Italian my dominant target language but since I got my Italian Golden Owl a month ago, I had pursued French and Spanish with a passion, and now I have both a French and Spanish Golden Owl. Next step: put into practice all the skills DL has taught me through conversation and songs in teh target languages. Thank you, Duolingo! You are the best!
Thank you- I'm now ready for translations but I'm sot sure where to start. Do I just choose any topic and start translating sentences? Could you please walk me through the process? Thank you!
Go to 'immersion' and you will see a list of uploaded articles, usually showing the most recent uploads first. Click on a title and it will open for you. There is a key at the top right to indicate what the various font colours mean and you can start out on some blue sections. I am not quite sure how it will be at first as I was doing some translation as the topics were presented and so they were restricted to my ability level at the time. If you need to ease into it gradually, just read the Spanish sections already translated (clicking on them so that you can compare the Spanish to what the translator has considered to be correct) until you get comfortable with the topic. If you see any which you think could be translated better or re-phrased, go ahead and have a go at editing. The worst that can happen is that someone may correct what you have done and if they are considerate they will offer comments on why they think it should be as per the original or another version. If you agree with the original you can click on 'looks good' which is an up vote. When you have worked at your first one or two and return to Immersion later you will notice that in addition to the original list, there are now several under 'your edits'. If you want to look for something in particular before starting there is a search function. I hope this will get you on your way and if I haven't been clear in what I have written please get back to me. Enjoy your translating!
Thank you for your generous help. Your instructions are very detailed and quite clear event though I have not put them into practice yet. Will let you know how it goes. 1 lingot for you!
You get a golden owl when you finish all the skills of the language you are learning- It involves hard work, dedication, and time. That's why one gets a feeling of accomplishment when one finishes all the skills.
