How did you find out about Duolingo?
We're trying to figure out where people hear about us. Let us know in the comments!
Luis´ TED talk (http://www.ted.com/talks/luis_von_ahn_massive_scale_online_collaboration.html) in which he presented how Duolingo was started via RECAPTURE, and the idea to translate the web. His enthusiasm convinced me...
Believe it or not, I was playing Minecraft at the time, when a friend whom I was playing with, started speaking Spanish. I was frustrated because I couldn't understand him, and every so often I would ask him to translate for me, which he did. We sort of got talking, and he mentioned Duolingo, and I decided to check it out. And now, I'm here!
LOL yah. I'm kinda a Minecraft Freak and play for hours on end! XD

I was actually searching for Google Image Labeler game which I played few months back then i come to know it is now discontinued by google ..... then i come to know you are inventor of that game ..then my interest increase and i searched your name in google and found your Wiki page and then I youtube your name and found ted talks video and from that I come to know about Duolingo...after long research journey I come to know about Duolingo :)
I read about it in the NYTimes and tried it immediately. I was frustrated by bugs in the system and gave up on it immediately. I came back to it a month or two later and some bugs had been worked out. Recently I have become frustrated again so am laying off a bit, but you seem to keep working on the site!
I participate in a Forum called SketchUcation. It is a friendly cooperative site based on the use of a program called Sketchup. The administrator mentioned in a subforum that he had seen the TED talk and that Duolingo was looking for beta participants. The fact that this venture was all about cooperative effort (give to get) and its stated purpose to help translate the web is what got me interested.
A blog post I stumbled upon: http://www.uberlin.co.uk/learn-german-with-duolingo/ Not sure how I got there to begin with, of course!
I have a page of RSS feeds devoted to news about learning languages. One of them is a google search feed. In there I saw an article about Duolingo acquiring a $17 million investor or some such. I know some French so gave it a try, but the language I'm really interested in at the moment is Chinese. Any word on when that will be added?
I was looking for learning language apps, and Duolingo was there :)
