I've finished the Portuguese tree! (my 9th!)
After a few months of work, and quite a bit more over the past few days, I've finished the Portuguese tree! This is my 9th tree in all, and the third I've conquered in a month.
I look forward to someday using my new language skills in Brazil, and Portugal! :) I'll continue learning, doing immersion and waiting for Turkish :D Also, listening to Caetano Veloso :D
Many thanks to all of my encouraging friends, especially my dear Brazilian friend Ana who has long encouraged and taught me! :D
I refuse to believe you are human. ;)
Regardless of what you are, you deserve a huge congratulations! Best of luck as you continue learning Portuguese and all your other languages!
I am human, whether you want to believe it or not! :D
And, thank you so much!!!! :D
Idioma is a masculine word, so it's "um idioma." Just wanted to point that out. Great job!
Caetano Veloso eu gusto muito muito!!! Parabéns Jack, you are a champion here :-)) Bom fim de semana ;-)
Caetano Veloso é maravilhoso :D Muito obrigado! :) Bom fim de semana. :) Maintenant j'attend le turc!
Huge Congrats to you, Jack! Nine trees is absolutely amazing! I am really looking forward to Turkish as well! :D
You are our little Genius. Congrats, Jack, I am so happy for you :) Which tree is next? :)
Thanks a lot, Gaga :) I think I might do some Irish, while I continue to wait for Turkish :)
Thank you for clarifying. From now on I won't have to use parentheses for grammatical correctness! :D
Thank you both!! :D I sleep 8 hours every night, usually from about 10 PM to 6 AM. ;)
Thank you very much!! :D Oh, I might do a few more skills, but I'm really waiting for Turkish! :D
Meow! You did it! That looks like a very happy owl. Congratulations! ^^
I did do it! Thank you!! I hope he's happy... I think he's happy knowing that I'm already using this language a lot to speak! It's the one I've used the most, besides Italian. Jeg kan se, at du vil have en hyggelig lille dansk ugle snart! ;)
Congratulations, yet another achievement! The tenth golden owl is waiting for you.
Another one!? And at the same time I'm like... two skills further to finishing my German tree. You're incredible at this, I give you that. Congratulations on finishing the tree! ;) I'm waiting for Turkish, as well. I even started some courses on Memrise ahead of time.
btw. I've just checked your profile and I just can't believe it - besides all those trees you're also doing a lot of immersion, aren't you? How do you do that? I mean, I'm sharing my time between Duolingo and Memrise, and while polishing my English and Spanish, I can hardly find time for more languages. I'm even more amazed now. You're definitely a genius, Jack! ;)
Yep, another!! :D Oh, great!! :) Turkish will be amazing! :) Thank you!!!
Haha, I don't usually do much immersion while I'm actively learning a course. But, I'll do lots and lots now! :) Hahaha, I don't watch tv, I'm a high school student.... I have lots of time! Thank you!!
Parabéns! Are you sure you don't already no these langauges? ;) You are amazing, and I wish you luck with the rest of your language learning. I would lingot-bomb you to congratulate you, but that wouldn't be a gift. (Unless, of course, you do need lingots?....)
Obrigado! Hahaha, fairly certain ;) Thanks again!! :D No, I have 882 of them at the moment.... I've given away thousands XD
Parabééééns! Estou muito orgulhosa de você :) Thanks for your help too, Jack! You always inspire me to learn more languages! Your Portuguese is really good, congrats again! ^^ :)
Aww, muito obrigado!! Eu estou também muito orgulhoso de você!! :) You're really welcome, Ana! Oh, thank you so much!! It's very sweet of you to say! :D Your English is perfect :)
Man, you are totally rocking Duolingo! Just wait and see;you're going to be asked to reset all of your progress by Duolingo because you're so good in so many languages. (Just kidding!) Congratulations on this accomplishment and keep mastering skill trees! :D Also you're lucky you can get 8 hours of sleep. I'm only in middle school and I'm still working at 11:30 PM... :l
Wow! So inspiring that you've been able to learn languages so quickly! Any tips for doing so? Personally, I only have three more skills left on my French tree and I'm looking forward to taking up some more languages in addition, but I would like to learn them faster than I did French. Congratulations on your accomplishment! Keep at it!
Thanks a lot!! :D Well, have tons of time, don't watch tv, and have a passionate love for language learning :P I really don't do anything special, I just go through the lessons.... Congrats! And thanks again :)
Congratulations Jack ! I am the future king of duolingo who was sent from the future to save the mafrooms of the world. I will catch you some day but enjoy your 9th tree accomplishment in the meanwhile ;)
Do you have any videos in youtube ? it would be cool to see you speaking those languages like some people here who have posted their videos.
It's impressive. I hope one day I will write the same :) Thank you for sharing with us your big day. Keep up the good work!
Wow, congrats!!! I'm trying to figure out what your other 8 trees are... they are all obvious except the one that's level 11 in English... is that a completed tree, and from what language?
Thanks a lot, Ana!!! :) Yes, I've completed all trees from English, except Irish! That English tree is from Italian :)
I started with no knowledge. Now I would say I'm an advanced A2 speaker of Portuguese.
congratulations for you , I don't finish my english tree yet, but I will.parabéns!!!!!!!
After finishing this course, do you find yourself to be fluent? Did you use other resources? What is your native language?
My native language is English, I didn't use other resources, and I would definitely not consider myself fluent. Fluency takes much more study, Duolingo only provides a good basis in a language.
I'm not fluent in any :) I can communicate in all of them from an A2 to a B1 level.
Impressive....but I want to see how you progress if they put Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai into the portfolio.. And even better, some Arabic languages....LOL....that would be a fun challenge!!
Just kidding, great job!
Thanks! I am already learning a little Thai and Chinese, and Persian, on other sites.
I use Memrise! :) It has many courses! Not all of them the highest quality, though.
I don't think fluency can be achieved through any website. You should use the language you're learning as much as possible, watch shows in that language, try to be immersed, if possible. Read, watch, listen, speak and write.
Woow Congratulations Jack! 9 trees is a really huge thing. It inspires me a lot, hope I can catch up with you one day ;)
Meanwhile, I've not finished my English Tree yet. I need to inspire myself on you xD
English. The others I have conversational fluency in, that is, I can converse in them, make many of my thoughts and feelings known and understand quite a bit.
Hi my name is Cole and I am looking for a Portuguese tutor. I am currently learning engineering at a university in the united states. Please comment or follow me if you would like to become friends and help each other
