There's not much more you can do but listen and try to repeat it as close as possible. It will come with time. Here are some resources that may help you:

There is a good series on YouTube that introduces beginners to the sounds of French. http://www.youtube.com/user/frenchsounds/

The Foreign Service Institute has a nice course on French phonology. It's free to download and it's what American diplomats and other overseas workers use when first learning French. http://fsi-language-courses.org/Content.php?page=French%20Phonology

I have experienced the same thing in the beginning, I had to repeat (and shout) several times so that I got an agreement on my enunciation. And I am French! To avoid that issue, you may want to switch off the micro feature.

The good thing about French is that they dub as much as the Germans (that means basically everything) so you will find almost every film you know (except b-movies) in French.

I'm not a native English speaker so I had to learn English. What pushed me over the edge of "school English with thick German accent" to "fluent speaker with slightly German accent" was basically consuming media in English.

I could imagine the same works in French. Find French YouTubers, Find French films, Find French news. Repeat what you hear. Talk to yourself in French if it doesn't make you look insane (a bus is probably not the best location to hold a small conversation with yourself in a foreign language) so you get used to it.

I think you can then safely turn of the micro feature and still learn pronunciation.
