My German tree ist fertig !

Hallo,

Just a small post to say that I finished my German tree ! It took me three months to complete it and I still can't believe how fast learning a language can be. I am still far away from properly speaking or writing German but the progress I made through Duolingo is amazing ! And it was fun, way more than in all the language classes I had in my life. So big thanks to the Duolingo and the amazing community, keep it up !!

As for the next steps, I will still be using using DL everyday to keep those strength bars up and I think I will mix the learning fun with Memrise, Youtube, short conversations with German speakers and soon I'll start reading Harry Potter ! So much fun and excitement ahead :D

So to all German learners, keep it up, you'll see the light at the end of the tree soon enough !

Thanks !! I set my daily goal at 50 XP per day, but often, like on the weekend I did more like 100 XP per day, which is between 1-2hours per day.

You learn fast. I practice about the same time every day and I still have a month to go. It will take me more than 4 months if I finish as planned.

That is impressive! Did you have any previous experience with the language? I find German quite hard and struggle with it more than I would like to.

Ja, it means that this person completed all the exercises. I do not use the microphone.

I don't either, it is just a big pain, and I realized I learned to speak better from hearing and trying it on my own, than by trying to horrifically pronounce it and never get the right way.

Ich habe gerade in diese Webseite (duolingo) angemeldet. Ich weiß genau nicht aber ich denke das ist gleichviel so wie A2 von Goethe Institut. Habe ich Recht? Könnten Sie bitte jemanden beantworten?

Ich habe eine Frage. Könnten Sie bitte jemanden antworten? Welches deutches Niveau beendet man, wann man diesen deutschen Baum beendet? Ich freue mich auf Ihre Antwort . Vielen Dank!

Sehr gut! Herzlichen Glückwunsch! English being my native language, I find German a tad difficult. Obwohl, Deutsch nicht unmoglich ist! What is the highest level possible you can attain in German on here?

March 4, 2015

25 is the level cap.

The endgame of Duolingo is the translation tiers. After finishing the tree, getting a high translation tier is your goal. At least until you get frustrated with the politics of the translation tier system and quit.

its unrelated... but after reading a few discussions, i have decided to learn German back to front - (English from German) but how do you do it??? i seem to only be able to get 'english' speaking courses???

March 5, 2015

https://www.duolingo.com/binomine

Click on your user name. Goto settings -> Language Learning -> See all courses.

On the upper right, choose "I speak German"

Then you should be able to choose English for German speakers.

Goed gedaan!!! Ik hoop dat je blijft oefenen en dat je hebt gelukkige jaren met je taal studeren. Ik weet dat dit is de verkeerde taal maar zij zijn zo similar dat ik dacht dat jij zal nog steeds mij begrijpen omdat ik begrijp sommige Duits geschreven.
