Notice something different? We’ve updated your skill tree to teach you French more effectively.

Overnight my golden tree turned multi coloured!! I reserve judgement on whether the update will help me learn more effectively - I relish a challenge!

I am really pleased to see the additional lessons! I was getting bored with just keeping the tree golden & not that excited about just doing translations in immersion.

Me too. Over thirty discs are now coloured. I had complained that despite constant skill strengthening, I still show that some words had not been practiced for months which shows that the monitoring is not good. Perhaps this is a result of an improvement. Let's hope so.

Actually, it looks like they just added new lessons. I had previously completed lessons that now shoe 3/4 complete!

Yes, and there are less lessons in some...like they split them into 2-3 sections per lesson instead of some of them having like 10 sections until you finish a lesson! And they added words to some of the lessons/sections that you've already completed. Nice.

Mine turned pretty colors last night too! Only thing is, I'm a little more than halfway through the old tree so it's frustrating to have to go back to lessons I did months ago, but it helped me review words and I was able to get through some of the lessons no problem as opposed to struggling through new ones without the new vocab.

I agree with you.

But didn't you notice that you got words that you hadn't tried before? That's what I'm finding.

I'm finding that a lot as a go through some of the later newer lessons

I am quite happy with it. Catching back up is quite easy, nice refresher, and (cha-ching) easy lingots! Besides, it is nice to have a few quickie lessons to do on busy days to keep my streak going.

I like the new challenges. The tree looks very nice with colors. No problem to redo a module, and learning new words is welcome. Thanks for the good work.

At first I didn't realize what was happening, but now I see that the tree turning colors is a good idea. BUT, it shouldn't have happened overnight. How frustrating it was to see that I had 35 lessons dropped on me over 1 or 2 days, without an explanation. Sally

I was surprised by the change but I like the review. It also helped to clarify some things

did it just change again?

It changed back again on my tree as well!

I have finished my course and rarely have to strengthen a subject so I like to practice my weak areas on the blue circle at the bottom. After my latest update it is timed now. I feel rushed and frustrated. I don't care about getting more lingots, I just want to learn the language at my pace. PLEASE make the timed blue area an option and not a daily requirement. I am losing interest quickly along with my husband.

I've been going through these new lessons to meet my goal of finishing my tree in less than a year and I only have about 7 topics left until I'm back on track!

No way am I going to finish this thing in a year. I am already past level 25 and can't go any further, don't care about XP anymore, nor lingots. What I am concerned about is that there is another lady at my job who speaks French and I still feel like an idiot if I try to have a coherent conversation with her. I could sure write her a nice note though (I am much better at reading and writing...SUCK at speaking).

I am convinced now that the change is an improvement. For instance the notes on date and time are more comprehensive and useful. The updated lessons give me a chance to have more XPs! Thank you DL!!

As someone who has felt that I am just missing something as I go through these lessons, I feel that the returning to basics is a good thing because I pick up stuff I missed the first time round. See the discussion thread where the guy has just done 400 days, he mentions resetting his tree. Well I couldn't agree more. I let my run lapse for about 12 months and when I came back I started at the beginning again. That was very good for me. The reason I lapsed was because it was becoming frustrating. When it does that in future I think I'll reset the tree. You certainly learn a lot going back to Basics.

I don't mind that my gold has disappeared but when I strengthen skills on the website, they never recharge, only on the app.

My French skills tree does not seem to have updated. Any suggestions on what I can do to get the new skills ?

I see that this thread, WHICH IS FOUR YEARS OLD, appears totally relevant to the most recent update which leaves my French tree BACK TO THE VERY BEGINNING!! So much for four years of study!!!
