Vocabulary: Tango: たんご： 単語
You: Anata： あなた
＊ Anta: あんた (less formal)
＊ Kimi: きみ： 君 (Probably should only use with friends and family if that)

Are: Desu: です
Milk: Gyuunyuu： ぎゅうにゅう： 牛乳

Milk: Gyunyuu： ぎゅにゅう： 牛乳
Isn't it ぎゅうにゅう? At least IBus, the Japanese IME I'm using, only accepts ぎゅうにゅう for 牛乳.
My IME must be speckle. I get 「牛乳」 for both 「ぎゅにゅう」 and 「ぎゅうにゅう」 I'll go ahead and change it to the latter anyway. Goodness knows I can't spell in any language.

その ”Sono" in this case stands for "the"
However "Sono" actually means "those"
So literally the sentence is "Those boys eat rice." ... but Duolingo translates it to "the"
この "kono" means "this"
これ "Kore" also means "this
それ "sore", like その "sono" also means "that"

Hi! Just confused about this syllable Tsu:ツ in Sandoicchi: サンドイッチ there is not tsu in this?
That's little "tsu" ッ Not big "tsu" ツ. Here's a comparison. ッツ っつ Little tsu doubles up the next consonant. So サンドイッチ = sandoicchi.
普通に 特定の種類でなければサンドイッチでOK 特定のもの→ハムサンド タマゴサンド カツサンド BLTサンド クラブハウスサンド ツナサンド ポテトサラダサンド イチゴサンド フルーツサンド コロッケサンド など
For those reading in: akira0eigo: "Normally when a type isn't specified サンドイッチ [sandoicchi] is OK. Specific types → Hamusando [Ham sandwich], Tamagosando [Egg sandwich], Katsusando [Cutlet sandwich... like deli meat..], BLTsando, Kurabuhaususando [Clubhouse sandwich], tsunasando [tuna sandwich], potetosaradasando [potato salad sandwich], Ichigosando [strawberry sandwich], furu-tsusando [fruit sandwich], korokkesando [croquette sandwich] etc."
... mostly I was using "sando" because I couldn't consistently, correctly spell "sandoicchi"

I was going to make a joke about how Americans have Pastry Logs... but so does Japan. チッー
日本人が主食にしているお米は、水分量が多くしっとりもちもちです。欧米人に比べて唾液の分泌量が少ない日本人に合うよう、同じようにパンもしっとりもちもちで比較的甘いので、生クリームとフルーツをサンドしてもそんなに違和感がないのかもしれません。たぶん欧米人の感覚でいったらパンケーキに近い感じかな。
ところで"how Americans have Pastry Logs... but so does Japan"はどういう意味ですか？
たぶん前の文はhow~について冗談を言おうとした、と言う意味だと思うのですが。私の拙い英語力ではこれが限界です、間違ってたらすみません。(>_<)
それと"イチゴサンドとフルーツサンドがありますか？！" は "イチゴサンドやフルーツサンドがあるんですか！？" "米国にあのものがありません。" は ”それは米国にはありません” 正解です。
米国は大きな食べ物があります！米国にはソフトドリンクは小さい子供の背です！！（冗談です！でも米国にはソフトドリンクはとても大きいです。）最後のポストの冗談は米国には丸太サイズの菓子を持っています。
ああ！「それはべ国にはありません」を覚えて見る。... now watch I overused には >.< I'll learn it eventually. x_x
日本とアメリカでは同じLサイズでも大きさが違うこともあるみたいですね。丸太といえばクリスマスなんかに食べるブッシュ・ド・ノエルを思い出します。そういえば、最近は節分の日に恵方巻_えほうまき だけじゃなく恵方ロールを食べる人もいるみたいですね。日本で大きなお菓子といえば、私はバケツプリンぐらいしか思い付かないです。
Well yeah... but even then it's slightly demeaning... well I guess it depends on the context really... but I'd save "Kimi" for close friends. XD ... actually... it's best to just avoid pronouns entirely.
I was wondering, can you use どうですか to mean like "how is that going"? like if someone says I'm taking ancient history could you use that phrase to ask how the class is going?
Okay it took a little bit of looking around, but according to thejapanesepage.com yes, you can use どうですか like that. :)
