Kongens kone giftede sig med min onkel og nu er han kongen. Noget er råddent i kongeriget Danmark.
It took me far too long to understand that reference to Shakespeare's Hamlet. Have a lingot.
I actually got it straight away. But then again Hamlet is one of my favourite plays - Danish royalty, murders, ghosts, devious plots, accidental stabbings of eavesdroppers, plays within plays, vendettas, duels... and anybody who actually survives all the aforementioned dies at the end! The greatest play folks, the greatest play.
You've not experienced Hamlet until you have read it in the original Klingon!
How common is 'hustru' used for wife? Mange gammel kirkebrøge bruger dette.
I don't think so, because your sentence would translate to "Konen af kongen ..."
From what I understand, these days the Queen's husband is a bigger problem in Denmark...
