So the plural of universitet is universitet? That surprises me. It is an ett-word, but it is long and no compound.

I'll add that. It's a little more colloquial, but totally OK.
Why is it "Det finns" and not "Finns det?"
"Finns det" would be the start of a question. "Are there two universities in the city?"
"Det finns" -> "There are/is"
"Finns det?" -> "Are/Is there?"
