Is "uw" pronounced like "u" or different? I'm asking because my Dutch teacher says that it's pronounced like the "u" but on several sites and on Duolingo (audio) it sounds a bit like the (English) "you". What is correct?

Uw is pronounced differently from u, simply pronounce the w as well, but take care not to pronounce it too clearly. It's also different from the English you, since there is no oe sound in it, but in the pronunciation, you can kind of compare the last part of uw to the last part of you, it has the same 'stretchyness' (sorry I can't explain more clearly).
