How to order Swedish books online?
Hi everyone, I would like to order some books in Swedish, but the bookstore and my usual online bookshop are no use. Do you guys know of a Swedish amazone or something that is trustworthy? I would like an actual book, not an e-book. Hope you guys can help :) btw I live in the Netherlands.
Adlibris says that they do not deliver abroad. You can only buy e-books if you are not in Sweden.
In London we have many shops, notably Grant and Cutler, which stock foreign language books. Indeed, Grant and Cutler has a lot of Swedish books. Nylre, give me a shopping list and the money and I will buy them myself and post them to you (that sounds like a scam, but it's not: if you want to go for it, ask for something small to make sure I don't rip you off!).
A google search resulted in www.bokus.com and www.ordochbok.se as possible online bookstores who deliver abroad. The bookstore www.billigaboken.se says that they can eventually deliver abroad, but you have to contact them for details. I have never tried any of these and delivery might be expensive, but maybe this helps anyway.
I'm not sure about shipping, but you can go to Amazon. Either use www.amazon.de, on the left side of the page, select "Fremdspachige Bücher", "Schwedisch" and then either "Gebundene Ausgabe" or Taschenbuch. 100,000+ books or www.amazon.com Books section, select Language Swedish (or 50+ other languages). 10000+ paperbacks, 4000+ hardcover.
Thank you very much. I checked the terms and conditions of amazon and shipping of books to the Netherlands costs the same as shipping within Germany it only takes a bit longer :)
Thanks for the advice. Bokus does deliver in other european countries. although postage will probably be on the expensive side. I asked because it is difficult to judge which sites are good and which ones aren't. So I figured let's ask the internet :) I'll do some more detective work on the sites mentioned by everyone. Thanks again :)
I use Bokus quite a lot, but then I live in Sweden so postage is not an issue. They are quite good and have a good selection of Swedish books. I've never used ordochok or billigaboken.
I just took a look at billigaboken. In my opinion they don't seem like a very serious outfit. ordochbok seems a bit better.
I bought a Swedish book on marktplaats, if you aren't looking for a specific book you could try that!
Yes! I would like to start reading Män Som Hatar Kvinnor once I finish my tree but I need the book in order to read it.
I was able to find most of that trilogy in original Swedish on Amazon marketplace (in the US). It was significantly more expensive than the normal prices, but probably similar to what it would have cost to ship from Sweden anyway.
Ah, I realize this is an ancient thread but if you're still looking, I found the whole trilogy at a really decent price from a company in California. If you're in America that'd be a good fit: http://www.swedishbookshop.us/crime-nordic-noir/millenium/
They also seem to do other books that would be good for learning, such as Astrid Lindgren's more advanced stuff (Bröderna Lejonhjärta, etc.) and a bunch of crime novels.
