Il segnale vs lo segnale
Good morning everybody,
I have just stumbled upon a translation: "The signal comes from a large town"
I translated it with: "Lo segnale arriva dalla città grande"
Well it is wrong, as it has to be "il segnale" But why??? We learnt that it is lo specchio, lo squalo because the noun starts with an s? Could anybody explain this to me?
Thanks a lot, Daiana
Hi, "Lo" is a definite article that comes before masculine nouns beginning with s+consonant (lo specchio) , z (lo zoo) . Its indefinite counterpart is uno.
Btw you've posted this in general Duolingo discussion section. I suggest you transfer this to Italian section.
