spoken words

I hate the spoken part where you have to type what is said. most of the time the computer says the y almost like a j. could they fix this?

Well... for me that part of the course is specially useful to learn english, maybe you have to accustom yourself, until you will be able to understand the audio. Or maybe you could be right and the Duolingo says some words incorrectly, I have never learned spanish from english.

If you specify the words the computer says wrong I could help you more.

If you want you can desactivate the spoken exercises in settings. That way they will not appear when you do lessons.

There is a very interesting fact about "y" and "j". In spanish we pronounce "y" as your "j".
