billnben is correct and the English should be I am eating an apple and she is (also) eating an apple.

I've heard this form before, although with two different items. Je mange une pomme et elle, un orange. I eat an apple and she, an orange. I think the comma is missing for it to make sense. Elle et moi mangent des pommes. I think is what most people would say if both were eating the same thing.

totally agree it shoud be je mange une pomme elle mange une pomme. The second mange is missing and i lose a heart!!

I shouldn't have to write "eat" twice because "mange" is only writen once at the start of the sentence. At least both ways should be correct.
