What is the difference between 'pausen' and 'rasten'?

A 'rast' is a longer break during ones working or school day, i.e. going on a lunch break. 'Pauser' are smaller breaks - getting a cup of coffee for instance (Fikapaus).

Furthermore, raster are usually not included in the working hours - while pauser are.

Never heard any teacher at my SFI saying rasten, even if we take 40 minutes breaks

Really, what do they call it then? Lunchen?

Pausen eller lunchen

A rastaman never forgets to chill out and take a break regularly, I guess.
