Suggestion: Get a notification when a course enters the incubator

On the course teaser pages, you can click "notify me when available" to get notified when the course goes into beta. I had a new idea relating to this- I think that you should be able to get notified when a course enters the incubator.

On the courses page, there could be an option under all of the course selections where you could enter a course that you'd like to see in the incubator. You'd choose which language you wanted, and for speakers of which language- then, when it enters the incubator, you'd get notified that it's being made.

However, one of the main reasons that I'm suggesting this is for another idea that this could be tied to. On the incubator page (or on a separate page on this website), there could be a list of the top 25 most wanted courses. This would be a list of the courses that the most people are waiting for- I'm interested in this idea because it could be a tool used by the Duolingo team to see the courses that are most in demand.

This is kind of a double suggestion- being able to get notified when a course enters the incubator, and having a list of the most awaited courses.

If you have any other ideas that you think would make this suggestion better, then feel free to share them :D

I think instead of 25 it should be top 10. Seems neater

True- if this was implemented, though, it would probably be the Duolingo team's decision.

I agree! There is an expression that says: "Who does the biggest noise does the least of work". A lot of people demand for a language but the fact given is that even though Russian was not very requested it is the most subscribed language ever. So that is a problem it would solve.

I think if they allowed Incubator courses to be taken on mobile, having a notification saying "X language is now in beta!" would be a great idea, and might just lead to more interest (and feedback) on a course!

So far I have never been notified of a course being ready, despite having "notify me when available" set, so maybe the developers should consider fixing their current features first, before adding another one.

I signed up for notifications for Dutch, Irish, Danish & Swedish and didn't get them until a week or two after the course entered beta, but the notification for Turkish showed up right on time (albeit in my email, not on Duo itself), so hopefully they're working on it.

This was also a problem for me when signing up for Turkish. Hope its fixed before Hebrew comes out though

I think they should have a notification whenever a new course from your language enters or leaves beta as well. It's not obtrusive and lets people know what's new.

Perfection. Could help the duolingo community not be in the dark as much, and help me to not check every day to see if the Hindi course has been added :P

If it had been added, a topic announcing it would be in the popular section of the Duolingo forum within 10-20 minutes of it being added to the incubator. You could just check the forums if you wanted to :P

Great idea! I'd also suggest making it so we can flag languages we're interested in and have their status pop up on the right hand panel of our home page underneath where leaderboard is. For instance:

Watching

Spanish for Italian (Phase 1, 57%)

Irish for English (Available now!)

Hindi for English (No course yet)
