Quick entry of diacritical marks

Hi, I'm a newbie here, learning Spanish. Is there a quick way, using the keyboard, to enter a character with a diacritical accent or tilde? It's a bother to stop typing, click a diacritical character with the mouse, then resume typing. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the link - I didn't know (or had forgotten) there was a Duolingo Wiki.

Depending on the computer, there often are keyboard shortcuts for these marks. On my Mac, for example, if I click Option+e, it will place this mark ´and then it will place it over the next key I press: é. If I click Option+c, I will get this ç. To get the Spanish ñ, I click Option+n to get this mark ˜ and then it will place that mark over the next key I press: ñ. Hope that helps. (I'm sure there are equivalent shortcuts for a PC).

Thanks, Macjory. I have a PC. It was a matter of selecting another keyboard input method from a drop-down list provided by the OS. All is well.

You might want to tell what that keyboard input method is, for others who have the same question.

I was going to suggest using the US-International Keyboard Layout, for anyone who has a US keyboard. How to do that, for the more common operating systems, is explained in the link given above - http://duolingo.wikia.com/wiki/Guide_to_keyboard_layouts_and_input_methods.

I usually just leave my keyboard in that input mode, although it is sometimes annoying when I forget I have to hit the space bar to get some of the regular punctuation marks.

I'm now using the US-International keyboard input method, and it seems to work fine. Thanks to all who responded to my query.
