Wondering if "brod" (bread) is a part of the meaning of the word brother (broderna.)

It doesn't seem so, but bröd is of course related to 'bread' and bror to 'brother'. The sources I found say that the words for 'bread' is related to words for 'brewing' (as in 'beer') or the word for 'break' (as in 'breaking off a piece').

Yah. What I had in mind was the idea of two people breaking bread together, a kindred connection.
And WOW you have studied many of the languages! Congratulations!

Could someone please help me out with the difference between 'äta' and 'äter' and other similar situations. I keep getting mixed up!
