Completed my French tree!
Bonjour à tous, je veux vous dire que je viens de finir mon arbre français !
Never thought completing it would be so exciting! Finally done at level 18 with 12696 XP, in 68 days. Now only need to look deeper into subjunctive and conditional moods, and keep the tree golden of course. :) Think I'm also starting the German course now.

Maintenant if faut travailler sur la grammaire... Par exemple, Duolingo n'explique pas les differences entre l'imparfait et le passé composé ou le passé simple..... Bonne chance et bon courage.
Je connais les differences entre eux :) oui, je suis d'accord, ce n'est pas bien que Duolingo a seulement un peu de leçons de grammaire. Mais j'ai trouvé beaucoup d'information moi-même. Merci pour le conseil !

Felicitations! ButI thought when you finish all the test,you also complete your tree and reach level 25? So what's the point of leveling. Sorry Iam new to Duolingo and English.
You don't automatically reach Level 25 once you finish the tree. Me, I'm at Level 17 in French and I'm only about a quarter of the way complete. You have to over time gain more levels through refreshing those skills and Immersion.
The level is based on the # of XP you get. You need to achieve the highest level, plus the tree, plus the language proficiency. Finishing a tree and be at level 11 and only 50% proficiency reading does not give you the knowledge. In fact you will see that when you retry some of the levels you will get new vocabulary.
Now you should start studying French with other methods, like books, websites, presential courses, etc. Because what you learn in Duo is just a little bit, if you want to be good in a language you needs years of study.

Congratulations! I've seen a lot of people starting German after finishing their French tree. I find that interesting; that's my plan, too. Is it a case of sensitized perception, like seeing red cars everywhere because I drive a red car? Or is this a common pattern? I've always wanted to learn German, partly because I love the way it sounds and partly because I have a German last name and an Alsatian great-grandfather.
I understand some German already as I stayed there for a few months many years ago. However, I haven't spoken it for a long time so I need to revise it now. I think it will be easier for me than French - especially speaking it! I am going to French conversation classes with a group once a week but only at beginner to intermediate level.
Sounds like you have a good start. I bet what you learned then comes back quickly.

I completed my French skill tree at level 16 and Duolingo says to keep going to level 17 but I don't know how to move to level 17 because the exercises don't move automatically. Can anyone help me?
