In need of German cartoons to watch

When I first started learning Russian I watched children cartoons and movies, my favorites were чебурашка and маша и медведь. They had simple conversations and were easy to understand. That's what I really liked about them. And now that I've started learning German I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations or cartoons to watch that are in German, it would be extremely appreciated if they had German subtitles on them rather then English. I usually watch the shows on YouTube but if you know of any good websites with them I'd be extremely thankful!

I love Peppa Wutz. Here's a sample https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkh9lsW6DC8 and I found another one the other day (I think these are longer and more complex, at least for me) Bali Folge :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-1YjVy2ZTs

That 70's show. In Netflix you can watch it in German. If you use Netflix from a web browser, you can browse by audio language and filter shows that are spoken in German.

Old thread, I know! But I loved Bali. Crystal clear pronounciation, cute stories, and easy to follow. Thanks for the recommendation!

Hmm... I don't know about the subtitles, but here are some popular German children cartoons: "Biene Maja", "Heidi", "Wickie und die starken Männer" (all are Japanese-German co-productions), "Augsburger Puppenkiste" (no cartoon but puppets) is also a real classic...Probably many more but I don't remember them all. "Die Sendung mit der Maus" could also be fun (a mix of cartoon episodes, short documentaries etc, can be watched in the ARD Mediathek (http://mediathek.daserste.de/Die-Sendung-mit-der-Maus/Sendung?documentId=1458) and is supposed to have subtitles but they seem quite off :/ )

Also, there are German synchronisations for A LOT of series. Maybe those are an option too?

Hi, I do not know any cartoons except this one where all characters are real except for the Pumuckle who is a cartoon. It is quite hard to understand but after watching it a few times, you end up figuring out the story:

Thank you very much! I'd love those shows when I was younger. It'll be nice to watch them again but in German.

You're welcome :) I have enjoyed them too when I was younger. So fun to watch and remember :D

I like Piggeldy and Frederick, as they are quite short and poetic. They always follow the same format, of the younger brother Piggeldy asking his older brother a question ("Piggeldy wollte wissen...") and receiving an often surprising answer. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCTGucdqeetQZs1mzdL1d8A

Also, I watch Petterson und Findus in German. This is the story of a man and his cat. I believe it's originally Swedish. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQd1_1biJINYMmeCrTzEMKxH3UfInenve

Lastly, I like the Moomins. I saw a comment on one of these videos that the singer of the theme song has a bit of an accent since he's actually Dutch, but the German in programs is just fine, I think. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiVFOiKVjQzaCzSVajkh0deXC2k7-zdWd

I don't think any of these on youtubes have subtitles, unfortunately! On the other hand, they are pretty slowly and clearly spoken, so that helps,

so far this has only worked with english for me. even if I can find a cartoon dubbed into another language the subtitles will never be the same. here in argentina I can watch netlfix originials tend to have with both audio and texts in english, german, italian and sometimes others. but only the english subtitles match. the other languages have different translations for audio and subs. my recommendation is to use netflix and, if one is a gamer, i recommend to watch already played games edited in movie-form on youtube, it is easy to find them with subtitles that match de dub audio. german, french, spanish and italian are almost always available with big games.

Learn German in just 5 minutes a day. For free.
