Intermediate level - let's talk!
Hi, how are you? I believe I can talk a little in English, but I'd like to practice more. So, I'm thinking to became your friend :) I really like books, series... Let's talk!
Omg, you're reading The Kingkiller Chronicle. That's one of the best books I've ever read. It's amazing, amazing and amazing.
Reading is one of my passions, I have over 50 books on my bookcase, for now I'm reading the first book of A Song of Ice and Fire series. This one also being really good.
About series, I see so many that I don't think it is worth to list all them here lol
Hi Mikael , good morning :)
All books of The song of Ice and Fire series are wonderful , I had read these books last year .. For me the third book is the best
Have a Excellent reading
Thank you! I've already read almost half of the first book, I'm really enjoying it.
GOD, we have the same interests! I'm gonna read A game of thrones soon and I watch the series GoT and I really like it. George Martin has created such a wonderful story, hasn't he? And about The Name of the Wind <3 Pat writes so beautifully that I couldn't stop reading that enormous book. I believe I'm gonna start The wise man's fear this week, but let's see. I also wanna start reading some Neil Gaiman's books, cause I've seen a Pat's interview and he was saying amazing stuff about Gaiman. Have you ever read something written by him?
Percy Jackson, I liked the first five books at the time, the last five books, maybe it's because I have grown up, but they seemed a lot worse than the five first haha. I did read Harry Potter too, amazing. haha
About the tv shows, I see a lot, with Sherlock being the favorite, to save time, I will not list all, just check here haha
SHERLOCK IS YOUR FAVORITE SHOW?????????? THAT'S MINE TOO. I'M FREAKING OUT HERE!
No, I've never read Neil Gaiman, but I've heard good things about him, about Kingkiller Chronicle, when I first saw The Name of the Wind, my thoughts were "that's a big book, I must read it", then I bought The Wise Man's Fear, and I got so surprised, it's twice the size of the first book. I really need to buy "The Slow Regard of Silent Things", "A Música do Silêncio" here in Brazil, it's like a parallel history, about Auri's life, it should be really good. About the 3rd book, that is gonna be a long wait haha
haha I bought the two books at the same time, so I read The Name of the Wind thinking "oh, this is a small book, don't worry Cris, be ready for the next one which is extremely big"; I have heard about this spin-off and I will read it soon as possible. I have a friend who really likes this trilogy and she made me read it - she read The Name of the wind four times, can you believe?
Omg, four times, that's really impressive. I haven't been reading a lot lately, so mostly books are from some years ago, a bit childish haha, like Percy Jackson or Kane Chronicles, but there are cool stuff, like Prince, by Maquiavel and Song of Ice and Fire haha. What I've been doing a lot is watching tv shows.
The last moths I watched a lot of series too. I read Percy Jackson, all five books, but I didn't like a lot. I prefer Harry Potter, you know. Start talking about these TV shows. I really like to talk about it :)
Do you want to talk somewhere else? Here isn't the best place to chat haha
I read the ''The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy'' last month. It is really good. I like Jogos Vorazes, Perdão, Leonard Peacock (Sorry, I don't know the title in english, haha), Divergente. I think these are the best three I read in the last 1 year.
Are you in 3rd grade of Ensino Médio?
I read The Hunger Games trilogy for two years ago, I guess. I really liked and I was kind of crazy for Peeta hehehe I have a friend who always talk about this Leonard Peacock book, but I haven't read it yet.. I just watched Divergent movie, but I'm not in the mood to read another trilogy. I have a lot of books to read this year, so I need to have priorities. I also write on a blog about books, so, you can see I really like reading.
I read just the first and second book of the trilogy. I will buy and read the third soon. I understand. I can see. You really love books. How long have you like reading books? Do you have Skoob?
Well, I'm 17 and I'm from RS. For how long do you speak English? I take a course since 2012.
Me too. I started around two years ago. But I studied in high school but is not so good.
Hehehe I agree. I liked my English teacher from high school, but he "needed to go slow" because most of my classmates didn't speak English. So, I didn't learn a lot on public school.
God, that's a hard question. I really love Fantasy, so, I like Harry Potter books, Lord of the Rings... This kind of thing, you know. Now I'm reading a series called Kingkiller Chronicle and I'm gonna read A Song of Ice and Fire soon. I also like Sci-fi such as "The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy" or thrillers as Sherlock Holmes stories.
Hi CrisAlbert2! How is it going? I already add you. I really feel very greatfull to meet people like you. Let's practice and improve our learning every day. I have a post that teaches you to win a lot of lingots. You can see it in this link bellow: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/7831726 See you later, bye bye!
Hi CrisAlbert. I also want to practice more my English. We can create a group of english conversation on skype or raidcall, What do you think?
I'm gonna be a civil engineer. I always liked Math and Physics, so I believe I'll like working with buildings and structures. Are you on college?
What nice! I really really like Math. I even participated of some Math contests, as OBMEP, and I have 3 medals from it :)
Hi, how are u? I hope that fine :)
Do you have some group in the whatsapp to train english?
No, I don't. How about create one? I'll do it and I can add you if you give me your number.
Hi Cris, Good Evening :)
My number is 11 980870341, but I'll wait for you, when you'll create a group.. Call me
Oh, I didn't create cause someone told me is forbidden in Duolingo :( Sorry. But we can talk here :)
I am from Araçatuba, São Paulo, Brasil and I am 19 years old. How about you?
Yes. I study Biofuels at the Faculdade de Tecnologia do Estado de São Paulo. It is a mix of industrial biotechnology, agronomy and mechanics. I am participant of the federal government program Ciência sem Fronteiras and I am going to USA probably in June. In addition, I will probably study Microbial Systems at the Montana State University, but I am not sure of where I am going to and what I will study. What do you study? Are you going to participate of any program like CsF?
To your first comment:
Nice! Congratulations. Where do you study? I believe Civil Engineering is one of the most interesting courses and I believe that it will be too useful to you. The most important aspect to go to CsF is the English. Practicing, you will be approved, I believe!
To your second comment:
Nice. I know this program. It is too good, but, in fact, for CsF it is not so important. It is considered only if your grades on ENEM are equal to another person (what we can say is too hard). Generally, not all vacancies are filled. On my call, there were 5400 vacancies, but, only 4830 were filled of a total of 16000 applications.
To your third comment:
Yes, I did TOEFL iBT exam. It was too hard, but, I believe that there are many sites at internet what can help you. I made 75 of 120 points. My call required 69 to study two months of English before the classes and 79 to go directly to university. You do not have to be afraid, because you have time to be ready. If you are from public college/university/institute, you can register at the My English Online, from Inglês sem Fronteiras (now, Idioma sem Fronteiras). If you are from private college/university/institute, you need 600 points at ENEM. There are five levels and the last is preparatory to proeficiency exams. So, I did the TOEFL iBT preparation. It has helped me so much!! I believe you can use it.
Well, this is my first year at college. I'm studying Civil Engineer, because I always liked Math and Physics :) I really want to participate of the Science without borders, and that's the mainly reason to I being here and trying to learn English. These days I talked with a guy from my course who stayed in USA for one year and he told me it was extremely amazing. I'm certain you're gonna love it.
At high school I participated of a federal program/Math Olympic called OBMEP and I won some medals. Because of this the last two years I did "scientific research/initiation" and I learn a lot of Math. I'm not THAT good, but I know some of my classmates have gone to other countries to participate of Math contest. You know, these medals also helps a lot to be selected on Science without borders, right?
One more thing: have you did you TOEFL exam? How did it was? How many points did you get? I'm kind of freaking out about this exam.
