Learning a new language through english even if english is not your native tongue!?

I'm currently learning german through english but my mother tongue is spanish.

I know there are other users with other native languages that are in the same case as i am. My question is how has been your experience doing this?

Also, i would like to practice my english and i thought that practicing the 'spanish lessons' maybe would be helpful, but sometimes i feel like i am cheating!? I can turn my preferences to learn english via spanish but my score of those lessons are not kept while switching... actually duolingo has two scores for that case!

I just wonder if theres anybody that would like to share his experiences and opinions on this. Thanks!

I'm learning Spanish through English even though my native language is German. I think it works fine and sometimes it even helps with my English, too.

Wie geht's severin? Ich denke das also. I think we are opposites. Creo que estamos aprendiendo los idiomas al revés.

I'm from Mexico, and my mother tongue is Spanish. I'm learning German and Italian through English. I have had some minor issues with idiomatic expressions (in English as well as in German), but overall it has been a really good experience for me. It works fine.

I'm Learning Spanish and now I'm trying Italian, but my mother tongue is Portuguese. I think that it's helpful, because I can improve my English, although I know my English is not good and It may cause misunderstandings in the learning process.

Same for me , since I 'm Italian and I ' m trying to learn German. Good exercise since my English is far from perfect ... I ' also doing English for Italians but - apart from the fact that it is still in beta - it doesn't help me in translating to English (for this the German course fits me well :-) ). Ciao

I'm also Pole learning Spanish through English. I noticed that learning foreign languages in English is easier than in less popular languages because of the services/materials/courses that can be found on the internet.

My native language is Hungarian, and now I'm learning French with Duolingo. I can improve my English and I think that the fact that English isn't my mother tongue didn't cause any problem yet.:)

I'm doing the same. My native language is Spanish and I'm learning German through English. I prefer it this way though.

I'm learning German through English although my first language is Vietnamese ... Because there are much more materials in English... and till now, everything is just fine cause the basic things are not really hard to understand...
