You get a boot to the head!

Actually it's quite an accomplishment given how many start and how few finish. Nothing "happens" but by the time you're done you should be ready to take the next step in becoming fluent. Start talking to as many native speakers as you can. If none are around you, find people online. You can finish your tree but you should never stop learning.

Duolingo is a Never-Ending-Story... This is a stack of flash cards that talks back to you and stacks itself according to your weaknesses. At some point the training-wheels will need to be taken off of the bicycle if you ride it everyday but Duolingo will allow you to practice and track your progress no matter how often you ride.

It is true that nothing really "happens" when you finish, but it is actually quite an accomplishment. You should strengthen if you want XP, but I suggest you speak to native speakers. You might also try learning another language, too.

There is no equivalent: you can reach level 25 by repeating basic 1
